Revelation, a book of the Bible that some even say to be mystery and inaccessible.
David Campbell has successfully managed to make Revelation accessible! Again! ) With such concise explanation of the overall interpretation of the book (redemptive historical idealist/ Inaugurated Eschatology and millennium), anyone can now have access to this treasure and now work with what Revelation is actually prophetically revealing and giving. Comfort to a suffering church until Christ comes to make things new.
There are few commentaries, in my experience, that have such a depth of scholarly underpinning as this one, and yet can be read almost as easily as a novel.
This is no accident. David Campbell worked with G. K. Beale, the author of one of the best respected academic commentaries on Revelation (over 1,300 pages) to produce a Revelation A Shorter Commentary that would be more accessible to the non-scholarly reader. This was published a year ago and has been highly praised.
But what David Campbell has done here is to take this a step further and re-write it to make sound exposition of Revelation accessible to the average Christian.
The great strength of this commentary is the way it uses other parts of Scripture, particularly the Old Testament, to shed light on the imagery of Revelation.
